Sixty participants including all barangay captains and barangay secretaries, visitors and other stakeholders convened at the municipal gymnasium, Poblacion, Governor Generoso, Davao Oriental on November 13, 2012 to participate in the National Skills Registry System (NSRS) Launching and Orientation.
The establishment of the national skills registry system is designed to assist the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) in facilitating the referral and placement of jobseekers in their community.
In order to aid the implementation of the program, DOLE has turned over a complete set of computer unit including a scanner and a printer to the Local Government Unit of Governor Generoso through the PESO office.
Hon. Mayor Vicente D. Orencia accentuates the importance of DOLE’s National Skills Registry System, which he said would help trim-down the existing disparity between an individual’s skills against current job availability.
“Jobs are available, but applicants do not fit the qualification. That’s why NSRS are here to offer opportunity to solve this issue by providing information so that data for specific job requirements will be met,” Allan Baban, Focal Person, DOLE XI said.
Data gathered in the barangay level will be used not only in the municipality but it will be deposited in the Phil-JobNet. The portal will serve as the repository of all the information of skilled workers where it can provide immediate basis of human resource and statistics. Online registrants will also be posted in the site. Different establishments were encouraged to register online and post their current vacancies and business information to be readily available to all jobseekers. This will provide an avenue for easy access both on the employee and the employer.
Governor Generoso was very fortunate to be chosen as one of the project site on this 3rd wave of implementation of the program.
To harmonize implementation of the project, Hon. Mayor Vicente D. Orencia and Shirley O. Ceniza, PESO Manager, inked a Memorandum of Understanding between the LGU and DOLE XI.
In order to implement labor market interventions and in order to help solve the perennial problem of unemployment, under-employment and job skills mismatch of the country, Barangay captains also signed a commitment of support in the implementation of NSRS.
