Five farmers from the municipality of Governor Generoso bagged home awards during the Davao Oriental 2nd Farmers and Fisherfolk Day celebra'tion on November 28, 2012 at Capitol Covered Court, Mati City.
Thousands of farmers from all over Davao Oriental attended the celebration.
This year’s theme was “Sa Pagkugi, mas Daghan pa ang Maani.”
The celebration aims to recognize the farmers in their effort to uplift the lives of their families and their contribution to our economy.
“Farmers and fisherfolk were the ones who gives foundation for our prosperous economy,” Hon. Governor Corazon Malanyaon said during her speech.
She further encouraged the farmers to start their minds to be fertile because we have all the resources we need being the biggest land area and having the longest coastline province.
Part of the activity was the awarding of outstanding farmers.
Mr. Roel Atacador from Barangay Sergio Osmeña emerged as the grand winner being the most outstanding Agrikulturang Makamasa Barangay Extension Technician (AMBET).
Four more farmers received recognition in the different fields of endeavor. Fe Piloton from Barangay Tandang Sora in her Coco/goat project, Roel Pepito from Barangay Luzon in his Barangay Goat Enterprise, Elmer Sayaang from Tandang Sora in his Diversified Farming System and Rodrigo Bersales from Barangay Crispin dela Cruz in his Tilapia project.
