November 27, 2013 - The municipality of Governor Generoso, Davao Oriental has arranged a mass oath-taking ceremony for all barangay officials who have successfully won the recently conducted barangay elections. The activity was held at municipal gymnasium, Poblacion, Governor Generoso, Davao Oriental.
All barangay officials were present including some of the barangay functionaries. This was witnessed by their family members, heads of offices, municipal officials and some LGU employees.
Hon. Corazon N. Malanyaon, Provincial Governor, Davao Oriental, administered the oath of office to all Punong Barangays.
In her message, she recapitulated typhoon Pablo’s wrath in the Davao Oriental province and how she managed to sustain the rehabilitation efforts to many affected towns specifically in the east coast.
“In times of crisis, there has to be a show of leadership that will be responsible of the command”, Gov. Malanyaon said.
Since Davao Oriental has been always a vulnerable province, leaders should take this seriously. The Governor urged all the leaders to make “disaster risk management” a priority concern in every barangays.
Meanwhile, Honorable Mayor Vicente D. Orencia inducts the oath-taking of all barangay councilors in the entire town.
He challenged all the newly installed leaders to leave politics behind and start anew to serve the people. He made an appeal to all the leaders to be supportive in his administration’s priority concerns. He will be focusing more on health sector where he encouraged them to organize a “Barangay Health Board”.
Aside from the health sector, the mayor also bared to the public that he would also give more emphasis on the protection of our forest, strengthening of our newly organized “almaciga tappers” for resin production and the promotion of our tourism.
Among the municipal officials present was Hon. Vice Mayor Katrina Joy H. Orencia. As a neophyte in the field of politics, she also shared her views towards having a successful leadership.
“Since election is so divisive, leaders should unite and support each other to attain real progress”, Vice Mayor Orencia said.
The ceremony ended with a banquet as a symbol of their unity.
